Trumpet created C1TY as a means to move engaged citizens of New Orleans to participate in the recovery after Hurricane Katrina and to serve as a guide to the many upstart grassroots organizations in the area. In our effort, the ubiquitous waterline left on structures throughout the city became the measurement of the many things we'd "had it up to here with," including social ills, political patronage and lack of effective leadership.
Meaningful connection points were created using wild postings, print, t-shirts, video and interactive. Most importantly, the effort resulted in positive citizen engagement across broad population segments. It also was honored with a national Gold ADDY in 2007—one of only 137 awarded.
